Sheet roof coverings
Sheet roof coverings (lead, aluminium, copper, zinc, bitumen ,butyl rubber, thermoplastic, etc.) are measured as the net area in contact with the base without allowances for labours. This includes following the profile of all rolls, steps, upstands and downstands, etc. Forming items such as rolls, drips, etc. are given in linear meters as extra over giving sufficient detail in the description to allow contractors to fully assess the price.
Work at the boundaries (abutments, upstands, etc.) are measured in linear meters giving the girth and details of forming.
Grass and other 'live' finishes are measured in Work section 28 Floor, wall, ceiling and roof finishes.
