Measuring alteration work is one of my favourite tasks as it allows the qs to use their descriptive talents.
Best practice
It is important when preparing a document containing alteration work for pricing that;
the location of the work can be clearly determined from the description,
similar work located in different locations is not lumped together,
spot items are set out in a logical progression from location to location in existing buildings and
the description or associated drawings and specification clearly identifies;
existing services and
toxic or hazardous materials, including asbestos.
