Kickers
Kickers are small concrete upstands used when casting columns and walls. Kickers can be suspended or isolated. Suspended kickers occurs where a wall rises off a concrete slab, the kicker being cast integrally with the slab and there is nothing on which to fix the formwork bottom edge
Kickers enable the subsequent easier fixing of formwork, as well as maintaining the dimension of the columns or walls, although they can be a pain to construct.
Best practice
Formwork to the sides of kickers is deemed to be included except in the case of walls, where it has to be measured.
There is no in-situ concrete work to be measured for kickers as this is included in the column or wall.
